OMRA Racing
Kingsbury Water Park 2007

A number of CMBC members took part in OMRA racing at Kingsbury Water Park on Sunday 11th November, weather was cool but a good days racing was enjoyed with half hour heats in each class.

Results
Mark and Rod's D class boat with a new engine producing more power ran well and did not suffer a broken drive shaft as it had in previous races. The racing in the heat was very close, see images and unfortunately the boat had its radio ariel removed following a close encounter with another competitor and had to retire early.
Mark and Rod's B class boat performed well, see images and despite stopping for a short time to have a bolt replaced in the engine and close racing with Andy they managed to collect a trophy for third place overall.
Mark and Rod's AA class boat did not even get wet. It ran ok before the race but on the pit line at the race start the outer tube of the prop shaft sheared, very unusual. Rebuild now underway.
Andy's B class boat ran well but picked up a leaf on the water cooling inlet near to the end of the race which caused some heat damage to the engine. Despite this Andy collected a trophy for first place overall.
Andy's AA class boat proved troublesome to start and keep going. At one point the engine stopped while the boat was on the bank but a strange tinkering noise continued coming from the boat for some time. On investigation it was found the engine flywheel had become detached and was running round the inside of the hull. Despite Andy and Rods best efforts the boat only managed three quarters of a lap.
